I don’t want to be stuck, crusty, hard-hearted or angry. (to self) Am I bitter? I’m bitter. I am. I am. NO! Help, God! I am a bitter, almost-middle-aged woman who is barely lady-like because I’ve gotten tough. Hard, and not in the take-on-the-world good way. Uuuh. But I want to be one of those sweet people who well up with tears when someone tells me something beautiful or sad. I want to believe people when they take vows before God in stunning dresses, perfectly gelled hair and matching pocket kerchiefs, instead of rolling my eyes thinking, “You’re 23, what do you know?” Or, “Sure! Until his breath smells every morning for 5 years, he farts while watching football and disrespects your parenting or somebody at the office pays one of you a lot more focused and flirty attention.”….
