Beauty is more than skin deep. I mean, it’s great that people want a person’s heart to count for more than what is on the outside…I get that. I do…but what about the people who have nothing else? I know you think my dropping out of law school to study cosmetology seems crazy to you guys, but Mom, Dad…it’s what makes me happy. Makeup makes me happy. Applying makeup to people makes me happy. We live in a society where human beings judge their fellow inhabitants first and foremost on what they look like; you know, what color their eyes are, does their hair color match their skin tone, is the color nail polish they’re wearing an indication of their mood or are they just being edgy? Appearance says a lot about a person. It’s important. But I’m not being shallow about it at all. I love making people feel good about themselves. I don’t know if you guys heard about this or not, but two months ago my roommate from last semester, Genna, committed suicide. Apparently she was being cyber-bullied and with all the pressure to succeed from, I guess, family and friends, I guess she couldn’t see her way through it…..
