Why is it that every time I think I have an answer for something, I don’t. My mother told me that Aunt Cindy was depressed and I should spend some time with her. I thought that shopping would be the perfect thing to cheer her up. We could try on clothes, she could buy me something – just like when I was little. Turns out that there are things that shopping can fix, and things it can’t. We used to have so much fun. She was not fun this morning. Finally, we stop for lunch. I decide to take the direct approach and ask her what is bothering her. She tells me that she thinks life is passing her by. She always thought that she would get married and have kids one day, just like my mom. But now she feels like it’s too late, like it will never happen for her. I suggest that there is always foreign adoption. It works for movie stars…..
